what is podiatry?

Podiatry is a branch of medicine devoted to the study of, diagnosis, and medical treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle, and lower limb. There really is no difference between a chiropodist and a podiatrist, its just a more modern name and was only changed to podiatry in 1993. Podiatry is the international recognised name for a foot specialist.

Anyone who calls themselves a Podiatrist or Chiropodist must register with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC). It is worth noting that some operators offering foot care services are not fully qualified or registered. You can go to the HCPC website to check if your podiatrist or chiropodist is registered.

All the podiatrists who work at Anne Perry & Associates have undergone study at a University to obtain a degree in Podiatry, they are all HCPC registered and attend regular Continued Professional Development courses in order to maintain their registration.
